This is why it is so important to take time for yourself. It’s not uncommon for an entrepreneur to be up at 1am running through finances, or thinking about marketing strategies while taking the kids to school. You may be so
engrossed in your idea that it will show up in every aspect of your life and you may spend every waking minute
thinking about improving your business or product. Don’t get us wrong. We love the hustle of entrepreneurs.
We never want the fire in your belly to go out. But making time to do other things you enjoy will make you a more successful entrepreneur. Burnout is real. Imagine you love lifting weights and dream of going to
the Olympics one day. You know that takes exceptionally hard work. Naturally, you want to go the gym and do a
hard workout every day. But science has shown us that taking a rest day after a few consecutive days of working
out is the best way to achieve long-term results. Working the same muscles every day is a recipe for injury and
decreased performance. Or imagine you’re working on a tough jigsaw puzzle.
You’re made some progress, but now you’re stuck.
You should take time for yourself, whether that’s working out (remember to take rest days!), jigsaw puzzles or
cooking. Anything that helps your relax and takes your mind off your business is a great choice. If you find it hard
to switch off, you might find meditation a good option.
