Unknown to many, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is now Lagos State Governor, didn’t just start as a politician at the beginning of his career, but as a plumber, entrepreneurreporters can reveal.
After his academic days at the University of Lagos where he studied Surveying, then as an aspiring young man heading for greatness, Babajide tried his hands in business when he opened his plumbing firm, Dial A Plumber.
According to him, he was just 25 years old then. “After my university days, i decided to try my luck in business by registering a company called Dial A Plumber. The dream was to help many people across the country with their plumbing work,” says the governor.
But did the mobile company eventually fly? Here was his answer: “The company could not fly and it was because of lack of technology. Then, only a few had access to telecommunication like we have now, so because of that I had to close down the business when we could not pay staff.”
Sanwo-Olu revealed this at an event organized by PEBEC on ease of doing business in Nigeria. He mentioned that unlike before, government is creating policies and the enabling ground that will make businesses thrive.
On the very sorry state of roads in the state, which have affected so many businesses, the governor pledges to fix all the roads as soon as dry season comes.
